NOAPS publishes a catalog of all of the paintings in the exhibit. One will be sent to each NOAPS member. Additional copies are $5 each.
Open
to all living artists 18 years and older who create
original works of art utilizing oil or acrylic
media. USA shipping address is required for
any international entries.
Each
work of art entered must be original an entirely unique, authentic, one-of-a-kind work of art, not copied from any published photo or print or the work of another person. Paintings must be the entering artist's original concept, design, style and fabrication, with the media limited to oil and acrylic paint. Paintings must have been completed January 2006 or later, and never before entered in an exhibit sponsored by NOAPSociety. While the use of various materials for line drawing and underpainting is allowed, the scope of acceptable techniques and technologies is arbitrarily limited. Mixed Media is not acceptable. Paintings must be on a rigid support such as stretched canvas, board, etc., and ready to hang for display. Maximum circumference including frame (the sum of the four sides): 168 inches. Paintings covered with glass or plastic are not acceptable.
Entry
is FREE for National Oil and Acrylic Painters' Society Members. To enter the competition, complete the Entry Form. Each artist may submit a maximum of 3 (three) paintings. Paintings will be juried from slides or digital images on CDs only. No E-Mail entries will be accepted. Non-member fee is $30 per entry. Entry fee is non-refundable. Check, credit card information or money order must accompany entry form. Include 35mm, high-quality color slides, tightly focused exact representation of the actual work, showing no frame, mounted in standard 2x2 paper or plastic mounts, with no outside labels or tape. No glass slides, please. Submit multi-panel works on a single slide. Entries must be clearly labeled with the artist's name, size of painting, title of painting, top of slide, and number of the entry. (See sample on Entry Form.) We will also accept digital images on a CD. The high resolution image must be in jpeg file format-300ppi (5x7 inches) publication quality digital images. Compressed jpeg file size will typically be no larger than 2MB, 2000x3000. Each image file must have a file name with a number that corresponds with the number on the entry form. Digital images will be presumed to display correct vertical orientation upon opening. Email entries are not acceptable. must be received on or before Friday, July 18, 2008.
All
entries must be for sale. Paintings of all price
ranges are accepted. Entrants price their own work, and these
prices must be representative of the established market value
for that artist's work. The prices of accepted paintings, as stated on the entry form, may not be altered during the entire exhibition period. The NOAPSociety will retain a donation of twenty percent of the sale price for transactions attributed to the exhibition. Upon acceptance, slides and CDs become the property of the NOAPSociety, which retains the right to reproduce images, regardless of copyright, for promotional or educational purposes. All reasonable care will be exercised with slides and artwork. However, the NOAPSociety, hosting facilities and organizations or individuals assume no responsibility and shall not be held liable for damages of any kind which may occur while work is on exhibit or in transit. Paintings covered with glass or plastic are not acceptable. Shipping companies and artists are responsible for the safety, payment and clarification of various methods of shipment. The NOAPSociety continues referrals for up to one year after the closing date of the exhibition.
Works
which meet the above requirements are reviewed
anonymously by a qualified, independent panel of
artists, art collectors, art educators and
patrons. Works are chosen on the basis of quality
and the individual artist's mastery of the oil or acrylic medium and expression without preference toward any particular school, painting style or technique. Artists are notified of acceptance and upon selection are given shipping instructions. Upon receipt of accepted paintings, NOAPSociety retains the right to refuse any painting for technical inaccuracy, misrepresentation, inadequate framing or improper packaging. Awards selected by a national panel of qualified art collectors are granted to exhibiting artists. Decisions of the judges are final. Awards are announced at the Awards Reception to which the artists, members and patrons are invited.
